It seems incredible, but the numbers do not leave room for doubt: more than eight out of ten Italians do not know that passive smoking causes lung cancer, seven out of ten smoke regularly indoors and half do so also in the presence of children. Not only that, the level of knowledge on risk factors related to tobacco is so low that almost half of Italians (48 percent) think that lung cancer cannot be prevented, and 43 percent mistakenly believe that quitting does not reduce the risk of developing the disease. Thus, only 45 percent would change their lifestyle to prevent cancer. V2 ecigs promo codes could be used to mitigate the effects of tobacco for the more hardcore users.
These are some of the findings from the national survey conducted by the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM) concluded last July on over three thousand citizens. The survey, presented in Milan, is part of a national awareness campaign on the disease, promoted with the sponsorship of the Foundation Together against Cancer and the Association of WALCE patients (Women Against Lung Cancer in Europe). The numbers are stagerring and it equally shows that many people are not aware of alternatives such as the V2 electronic cigarettes that can help them and their loved ones.
“With approximately 38 thousand new diagnoses each year in our country, lung cancer is the third most common cancer, after colorectal and breast cancer – explains Carmine Pinto, President-elect AIOM and director of oncology hospital, Medical Company university of Parma. Smoking cigarettes, causes 90 percent of deaths from lung cancer and passive smoking increases up to 30 percent chances of developing the disease. But, as is clear from the survey, too many Italians ignore the basic rules of prevention. So we decided to promote a national project aimed at citizens, oncologists and institutions.” V2 electronic cigarettes have been known to help people who are trying to quit smoking whilst also reducing greatly the attendant risks of tobacco.
For ‘smoking’ Passive same diseases of tobacco users
In Italy more than 11 million people smoke regularly, about 6 million men and 5 million women. The tobacco users account for over 20 percent of the population older than 15 years and the majority smokes on average from 10 to 14 cigarettes a day. To these are added the army, even more broadly, of passive smoking: 15 million people in all, many of them very young, given that the most recent estimates indicate that half of the under 14 Italians (4 million people) lives with at least one smoker. It would be a better solution if the smokers begin to use V2 ecigs to protect themselves and their families from harm.
“Despite the many calls of doctors – Pinto continues – it seems that the message is not yet clear: secondhand smoke (that is inhaled unintentionally by people who live in contact with one or more tobacco users, which is the main pollutant of closed spaces), to equal to the active one, possesses over four thousand chemicals in the form of particles and gas. Why non-smokers who inhale are often affected by the same disease of tobacco users (eye and nose irritation, headaches, dry throat, dizziness, nausea, coughing and respiratory problems). Worldwide deaths from passive smoking are over 600 thousand a year.” This number can be greatly reduced if people switch to the use of V2 ecigs in their quest to quit tobacco altogether.
